3 Tips for a Calm, Fun Start to the Holiday Season

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Wishing you happiness.” – Helen Keller

Little Gems of Wisdom & Fun from Mary Lynn Ziemer

The Holiday Season is here! With all of the hustle and bustle that this time of year brings, it’s important to be gentle with yourself and keep balance in your life. You create everything based on how you feel, so it’s crucial that you stay tuned in to your emotions throughout your day and make sure you feel really good. Here are a few tips to help you feel calm and joyful as you move into the holidays...

1. Choose Peace. Remember, as you make good choices for yourself, others will benefit from your calmness too. Always ask yourself these two questions when you’re faced with a decision:

If I do this, will it make me feel good and bring me peace?

Will this get me closer to my goal? (Is it a priority for me?)

If the answer is yes to both, you will know that you are making a wise decision for yourself.

Now, put the power of your mind to use by asking yourself what you want the perfect outcome to be and focus on it. Our mind does not know the difference between our reality and our imagination. So, as you put into your mind the perfect outcome that you would like to see, and you play it over and over again, you will not only feel more peace and joy, but if you KNOW with a certainty that it is yours, it will be!

2. Nurture Yourself. Balance giving to others with receiving for yourself. You can stay in a place of authentic happiness by devoting time each day to your priorities. Even a small amount of time spent in meaningful ways will lift your mood and show you the way to feeling more joy as you complete your holiday “to do” list.

Try taking “quiet time”, such as meditating, in the morning when you first wake up. It sets a calm and peaceful tone for your day. You’ll also feel so much more empowered to create the results you want. The peacefulness that you’ll feel elevates your energy and allows your busy day to flow more smoothly by giving you clarity and focus.

3. Let go and Move Ahead. Let go of thoughts and situations that feel less than joyful. When you do this, you open supportive doors that will bring solutions and an outcome that exceeds your expectations. Look for the blessings of the present moment. Be grateful for the things that bring you joy. Write them down. When you feel truly grateful, you will feel better. There is always something there. You just have to search for it.

Then, look forward as you put your full focus on what you want with all of your heart and mind. Have fun as you visualize what that looks like. In the meantime, trust that the best will happen. Have patience and love yourself for all that you are doing. Feel and send love to everyone and everything involved. Love is the power that allows us to create what we wish, so feel love as intensely as you can.

Now, remain persistent in your efforts and stay positive in your thoughts. Persistence always pays off, so stick with your promises by continuing these daily actions. Commit to feeling joy for the long haul to get what you really want for yourself and others. Remember, "‘tis the season to be jolly!”

Have an absolutely magical day full of love, gratitude, and fun, fun, fun!
